Materion Brush Beryllium & Composites' Ultra High Purity (UHP) beryllium (greater than 99.99% weight) is used for doping of materials like GaAs used in the manufacturing of semiconductors. Small quantities of UHP beryllium can change the ability of a semiconductor to conduct electricity.
The unique capabilities of Beryllium Oxide make it a critical material in many industrial applications. BeO can be found in oil and gas, down-hole exploration, equipment instrumentation where it plays a critical role in ensuring our nation’s energy supply. As the global focus on energy conservation and emission reductions continues to increase, many new applications for BeO are being discovered in the production of energy. One such application is for the solar cell industry.
Utilizing BeO in the design of concentrator solar cells provides a lower cost solution to harnessing electricity from the power of the sun, thereby, reducing our dependency on fossil fuels and helping the environment.
For solar energy applications, materials are also available for device development and production. These materials can be used for thin film, silicon and concentrator technologies. Available are materials for anti-reflective coatings, reflective coatings, active layers, transparent conductive oxide coatings as well as back contact materials.
