Materion Barr Precision Optics & Thin Film Coatings is a leading provider of optical filters used for laser eye protection for military and commercial applications. We offer two options to the optical designer. They are our Rugate Coating Technology, as well as traditional multilayer notch filters, each has a role in Force Protection when inserted in Direct View Optics or Sensor Hardening applications. One laser rejection wavelength or many laser rejection lines can be designed into a single optical element.
Rugate; This capability provides a high performance alternative to the user as follows:
- High throughput and flat response in the transmission band without disruption of unwanted harmonics
- Steep slope cutoff
- User selectable spectral wavelength, including multiband; feature (cutoffs) in the transmission band
- Deep reflection
Multilayer Notch filter design provides:
- Traditional notch filter performance
- Wavelength flexibility over our entire design spectrum (200nm thru 50µ)
