Beryllium-based AlBeMet® and E-Materials
Materion Corporation’s beryllium metal, alloys like AlBeMet® and our composite E-Materials have superior thermal diffusivity properties that extract excess heat away from sensitive electronic components. AlBeMet® is a unique alloy of beryllium and pure aluminum, and E-Materials are high performance metal matrix composites (MMC) of beryllium and beryllium oxide.
AlBeMet® offers the design engineer a material with a very attractive combination of light weight, high thermal conductivity, a controllable coefficient of thermal expansion, high specific stiffness, high thermal stability and mechanical properties that have a high degree of isotropy.
The ratio of beryllium and aluminum in AlBeMet® can be varied to allow Materion to provide the desired physical, thermal and mechanical properties to meet customer requirements. In its final product form, AlBeMet® is available as:

Materion Corporation products reduce junction temperatures, increase mean time between failure (MTBF) and the fatigue life of electronic packages, and can minimize vibration-induced stress on leads, solder joints and substrates.
In addition, the high modulus of beryllium-based materials increases the resonant frequency of electronic assemblies and thereby reduces the transmission of shock loads to provide increased reliability to electronics systems. The low density of beryllium based engineered materials reduces overall mass, resulting in superior system performance.
