Specialized Medical Areas of Focus

In addition, strip and rod alloys are utilized in cardiology equipment for high reliability electronic and electrical connector terminals.

Beryllium oxide (BeO) is used in critical medical technology for both the diagnostic and treatment sectors of the industry as beryllium oxide provides superior performance and reliability in high temperatures for high frequency applications, applications where material failure is unacceptable. Materion Ceramics' beryllium oxide parts can be found in critical components that are used as a source of hard X-rays and high-energy electron beams that drive X-ray devises in medical diagnostic testing. This equipment is used in MRI and CAT scanners to provide high-resolution diagnostic imagery. Materion Ceramics can be found in medical lasers for DNA analysis, skin resurfacing, cataract removal, non-invasive surgery, and HIV testing. New applications for BeO can also be found in such critical life-saving technologies as portable defibrillator machines.
