Who is Materion Large Area Coatings?

Materion Large Area Coatings is a new name for an established, trusted provider of high-performing solutions and unparalleled service. Formerly known as Techni-Met, LLC, Materion Large Area Coatings continues to provide the medical, display, flexible electronics, defense and aerospace, alternative energy and industrial thin-film markets with leading-edge coating technologies.

As a high-value-added manufacturer of precision-coated materials, Materion Large Area Coatings specializes in the physical vacuum deposition (PVD) of inorganic materials (such as precious, refractory, non-magnetic metals, alloys and ceramics) onto flexible polymeric films, a process called sputtering. Our diverse, high-technology production and developmental manufacturing cells and class 10,000-cleanroom inspection facility allow for producing wide web, single- or multi-layer PVD sputtered coatings onto various substrates.

Materion Large Area Coatings History

Materion Large Area Coatings was founded in 1995 as Techni-Met, LLC. In February 2008, Techni-Met was acquired by Williams Advanced Materials, a subsidiary of Brush Engineered Materials. The resulting combination – a single source of expertise for thin-film materials and coating processes – fostered new technological advancements.

A dynamic company, we work to create viable solutions for our customers’ sputter deposition requirements. Our expertise extends to R&D, manufacturing and quality control. Anticipating our customers’ needs, we offer custom equipment and innovative processes to produce results of consistent quality and reliability at Materion Large Area Coatings. From start to finish, our production inspection and converting processes enable our customers with the highest quality in sputtered materials.

Through our associations with Vitex and Gould, we are able to further our deposition and coating capabilities. By combining these resources, Materion Large Area Coatings is able to venture into organic coating deposition, and heighten our quality standards for use in display applications.

Located in Windsor, Connecticut, our facility comprises one of the largest production capacities in the industry.  Consequently, we are able to offer responsive solutions on projects of all sizes, for large corporations and small businesses, including international customers.
