For customers who may not have process capabilities for large rolls of material at their own facilities, Materion Large Area Coatings provides value-added converting services for roll-to-roll thin film products. In the “converting” process, large master rolls of film are slit into narrow widths. This process is very specific and operator experience is paramount. Once converting takes place on the micro-slitter, strict adherence to specific criteria is crucial for precise and repeatable results.
With seven sputtering machines, three slitting machines and a wide array of converting film materials, Materion Large Area Coatings has the in-house capability and engineering experience to handle very large rolls of material, which makes our converting services a cost-effective alternative for many customers. We offer full-service cleaning, slitting and rewinding to meet each customer’s precise specifications. We can also convert both metal and non-metal rolls.

- Slitting: cutting and rewinding large rolls of materials to meet the customer’s needs for specific widths, from 1.5mm to 65” wide.
- All converting is completed in our Class 10,000 clean room.
- In-situ inspection equipment on every slitting machine.
