Materion Large Area Coating provides sputter coating, conversion services and engineering support to a wide variety of industries including: Electronics Manufacturers, Medical, Original Equipment Manufacturers and end users.
Sputtering is a method of coating a film (or web) with a thin layer of an inorganic material in a vacuum chamber. We provide both Sputtering Services and Sputtered Film products. These products and services include:
- Sputtered thin films, both metal and non-metal, which can be applied to a wide variety of flexible substrates such as polyester films, foams, and fabrics
- Precious and non-precious metal sputtered films, frequently used for conductive components and electronics
- Oxide sputtered films for optical and electrical applications in solar and displays
- Vapor barrier films for high performance solar modules and flexible electronics
- Multi-layer stacks for optical and electrical applications
Large Area Coatings also provide value-added Conversion Services for roll-to-roll thin film products for those customers who may not have process capability for large rolls of material at their own facility.
We have the in-house capability to handle very large rolls of material making this a cost-effective alternative for many customers.
These services include:
- Slitting - cutting and rewinding large rolls of materials to customers specified width, from 1.5mm to 65” wide, for use in their facility
- Slitting capacity in Class 10,000 clean rooms
- Optically inspect for defects and debris
- 100% visual inspection of incoming raw materials
- 100% visual inspection of finished products
- Rewinding - for ease of process at customer site
- Web Cleaning - to eliminate debris prior to the sputtering process
For customers developing new products, Large Area Coatings Thin Films Development Center (TFDC) is a specialized R&D group created to help customers develop special processes and new materials to meet their unique requirements. The TFDC has the ability and skill to take any project from blue prints to full production. Our team of experienced engineers can work with you to provide all manufacturing specifications from start to finish and can define and provide written documentation for each customer's unique process.
