| FLASH PT: | N.A. Method Used: Unknown |
| EXPLOSIVE LIMITS: | LEL: NE UEL: NE |
| EXTINGUISHING MEDIA | |
|
USE: Use dry chemical or carbon dioxide exitinguishing agent |
|
| SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES | |
|
Firefighters must wear full face, self-contained breathing apparatus with full protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes. Fumes from fire are hazardous. Isolate runoff to prevent environmental pollution. |
|
| UNUSUAL FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS | |
|
The flashpoint (PMCC) of freshly
made titanium ethoxide is 33-43 degC. If this
material is exposed to water or to moist air, it
will react, producing the alcohol associated with
the titanium. This will cause the flash point to
decrease. The flash point (PMCC) of a mixture of
80% (wt.) Titanium ethoxide and 20% (wt.)
water, after 20 minute exposure, is 24 degree C.
this water-exposed product should then be
considered as DOT flammable. Flammable Liquid. Vapor forms explosive mixture with air. |

TITANIUM: This material is
generally considered to be physiologically inert.
There are no reported cases in the literature
where titanium as such has caused human
intoxication. The dusts of titanium or most
titanium compounds such as titanium oxide may be
placed in the nuisance category. (Sax, Dangerous
Properties of Industrial Materials, eighth
edition) INHALATION: Acute: CAUTION MAY BE POISONOUS BY INHALATION. May cause irritation to the lungs and respiratory tract. Chronic: No chronic health effects recorded. INGESTION: Acute: May cause severe irritation to the gastrointestinal tract. Chronic: No chronic health effects recorded. SKIN: Acute: CAUTION MAY BE POISONOUS BY SKIN ABSORBTION. May cause severe irritation. Chronic: May cause dermatitis. EYE: Acute: May cause severe irritation. May cause loss of vision. Chronic: No chronic health effects recorded. TARGET ORGANS: No target organs recorded. |

SECTION VII - PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING AND USE |
| STEPS TO BE TAKEN IN CASE MATERIAL IS RELEASED OR SPILLED | |
|
Wear appropriate respiratory and
protective equipment specified in section
VIII-control measures. Isolate spill area,
provide ventilation and extinguish sources of
ignition. Vacuum up spill using a high efficiency
particulate absolute (HEPA) air filter and place
in a closed container for proper disposal. Take
care not to raise dust. Use non-sparking
tools. |
