Copper Nickel Tin Alloy Strip

Copper Nickel Tin Alloy Strip

When it comes to unique technological capabilities in metallurgy, Materion Brush Performance Alloys proves again with its copper nickel tin alloys why we are the first choice for customers worldwide.

The properties of Materion Brush Performance Alloys’ high performance, spinodally-hardened copper nickel tin alloys - BrushForm® 96 and BrushForm® 158 - provide many advantages in demanding end-use applications such as electronic connectors, switches and sensors.

BrushForm® Copper Nickel Tin Alloy Advantages

BrushForm® 158 strip alloys are high-performance, heat treatable spinodal copper nickel tin alloys available in heat treatable or mill hardened (pre-heat treated) form.  It is designed to provide optimal formability, strength and stress relaxation characteristics similar to Alloys 25 and 190 copper beryllium.

BrushForm® 96 is another spinodally hardened copper nickel tin alloy that provides high strength, conductivity, and formability similar to copper beryllium.  It has lower strength than BrushForm® 158, but higher conductivity.

  • BrushForm® copper nickel tin strip alloys are beryllium free and show excellent resistance to stress relaxation.
  • BrushForm® copper nickel tin strip alloys are less prone to distortion during heat treatment than similar tempers of copper beryllium strip.

Forms and types of BrushForm® copper nickel tin alloys

Materion Brush Performance Alloys manufactures copper nickel tin strip alloys under two brand names:

  • ToughMet® 3 is available in annealed strip form.  It is designed to be seam welded into sleve bearings.
  • BrushForm®  158 and 96 are strip alloys, with strength and formability approaching high strength copper beryllium, available in both pre-heat treated (mill hardened) and heat treatable (age hardenable) forms
