Commercial Grade Beryllium
S-65 grade Beryllium is a commercial grade Beryllium that is lower in oxide content (1.0% maximum) than our other Beryllium grades. It also has a higher guaranteed minimum room tensile elongation and has that has the best high-temperature ductility of the conventional impact ground beryllium grades.
This is premium grade is guaranteed to exhibit a minimum of 3% tensile elongation at room temperature in a test direction. This stain capacity is obtained through the use of impact grinding during powder manufacture and by holding the micro-alloying elements, iron and aluminum, to the proper ratios.
S-65 grade Beryllium also has a lower metallic impurity level than all structural aluminum grades. This lower impurity content makes it especially compatible with nuclear energy and fusion reactor applications. It is utilized in the winder frames, umbilical doors and navigational base of the space shuttles.
