Aluminum Beryllium Metal Matrix Composite – AlBeMet®
Materion Brush Beryllium & Composites offers AlBeMet®, an Aluminum-Beryllium metal matrix composite which combines the high modulus and low density characteristics of Beryllium with the fabrication and mechanical property behaviors of Aluminum. Lightweight and high modulus Aluminum-Beryllium metal matrix composites offer significant performance advantages over traditional Aluminum and organic composite materials. Aluminum-Beryllium metal matrix composites can also be fabricated using the same techniques and fabrication tooling currently used for aluminum alloys. Aluminum-beryllium metal matrix composites do not display sensitivity to machining damage and do not require etching after machining like Beryllium.
Electronic Materials – E-Materials
Materion Brush Beryllium & Composites offers a family of Electronic Grade Materials or “E-Materials” for the design engineer requiring superior properties, particularly when thermal and elastic modulus properties are critical. Applications of Materion Brush Beryllium & Composites E-Materials include printed wiring boards (PWB’s) and standard electronic modules, type E (SEM-E) used in avionic surface mount devices. The high elastic modulus aids in vibration reduction making E-Materials the choice material for surface mount technologies. Superior thermal transfer and it’s coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) has made Materion’s E-Materials, the material of choice for Gallium Arsenide (GAs) substrates and in a multitude of RF/microwave applications.
