Aluminum - Beryllium (AlBeMet®)
Materion Brush Beryllium & Composites’ AlBeMet® is an alloy of aluminum and beryllium that provides a set of physical and mechanical properties significantly superior to those of conventional aluminum alloys, specifically in terms of thermal management, dimensional stability and reduced weight.
AlBeMet® Formulations:
- AlBeMet® 140
- Composed of 40% beryllium by weight, and the balance aluminum
- AlBeMet® 162
- Composed of 62% beryllium, and the balance aluminum.
AlBeMet® is a powder metallurgical product produced by gas atomization available as rod, bar, tube and sheet.
AlBeMet® has very appealing mechanical properties for many aerospace and commercial applications. It possesses much of the machining workability of aluminum, and also much of the extreme hardness of beryllium. AlBeMet® also provides a cost-effective alternative to pure beryllium.
