SCRAP PURCHASES – All Alloys
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- ALLOY TYPES: Beryllium Copper and non-beryllium containing scrap. All material must meet Brush Performance Alloys specifications BWA-70 and BWA-76.
- SCRAP FORMS: May be solid scrap – bar ends, punching, sheet, strip, coil or other solid form or turnings, borings, scalping. Maximum size: 25” x 48” (635mm x 1219mm).
Fine turnings and sawing scrap are not acceptable.
Excessive oily residue scrap is not acceptable.
- PRICE: Will be determined the date the purchase order is issued.
- CONTAINERS: Dry clean scrap may be packaged in gaylords (no plastic liners), metal 55 gallon drums (2000 lb maximum) or fiber drums with the purchase order number, weight (gross, net, and tare) clearly marked on the outside. Containers will have lids or shrink wrap to ensure scrap arrives safely intact. All packaging must be secure and structurally sound to support the material during transit and off-loading.
- SORTING/SEGREGATING: Materials will be sorted and segregated by material types and/or grade. (i.e. Alloy 25, 190, 165, 17460, ToughMet®, Moldmax®, etc.) . Mixed alloys could cause total rejection and return of material at the shipper’s expense.
- CONTAMINATION: Contamination is defined as mixed alloys in the same container, plated scrap or contamination from other metals, plastics, dirt, oil or grease. Contaminated scrap will be rejected and returned at the shipper’s expense.
- FREIGHT TERMS: Are delivered collect, Elmore Ohio. Brush Performance Alloys will designate the carrier. All shipments will have complete documentation to identify shipper, all weights and alloy types. Freight will be paid on all shipments of 500 pounds or more. Failure to use a designated carrier which results in excess charges will be at the expense of the shipper.
Bills of Lading will be designated as “SCRAP BRASS, BRONZE OR COPPER NOT FOR REMELTING PURPOSES ONLY, NMFC ITEM 30760, CLASS 55”. Failure to comply with this requirement that results in a higher freight charge will be charged to the shipper.
