Materion Large Area Coatings provides value-added Conversion Services for roll-to-roll thin film products for those customers who may not have process capability for large rolls of material at their own facility. Converting is the method of taking large master rolls of film and slitting it into narrow widths. This process is very specific and experience is mandatory. Once the process takes place on the micro-slitter, the process cannot be changed so strict adherence to specific criteria is mandatory.
With 7 sputtering machines, 3 slitting machines and a wide array of Converting Film materials, Materion Large Area Coatings has the in-house capability and engineering experience to handle very large rolls of material making this a cost-effective alternative for many customers. We offer full service cleaning, slitting, and rewinding to meet each customer’s specifications and can convert both metal and non-metal rolls.
Services include:
- Slitting - cutting and rewinding large rolls of materials to customers specified width, from 1.5mm to 65” wide, for use in their facility
- All converting is completed in our Class 10,000 clean room
- Cleaning as part of slitting process to eliminate debris
- Video inspection services on every slitting machine
- State of the art Micro-Slitters
- Protective Masking to enable future sputtering processes
