Hot Pressing and Vacuum Melting
Hot Pressing and Vacuum Melting
For its diverse customer base, Materion Microelectronics and Services employs a wide range of manufacturing options to meet the varying needs of industry. Materion Microelectronics and Services specializes in a wide variety of base metals, vacuum cast and powder consolidated alloys, cermets and ceramics.
Materion Microelectronics and Services is the only sputtering target manufacturer to fully embrace both vacuum casting and powder metallurgy technologies for metallic and non-metallic sputtering materials. Vacuum induction melting (VIM), inert gas hot pressing (IGHP) and hot isostatic pressing (HIP) techniques are routinely hybridized to form unique processing solutions for the most challenging of composites and alloys. Advanced machining centers and in-house target bonding ensure that we have the capability to produce virtually all thin film materials required for PVD applications in a variety of technically demanding markets.
Metallic and non-metallic sputtering materials are produced in a wide array of shapes and sizes meeting the requirements of virtually any machine design. Custom configurations are available as well. Targets are produced using ultra-high purity materials and with optimal metallurgical grain structures, phases, and when appropriate crystallographic orientations.
