Challenge of Application:

Replace a three-piece relay assembly of base plate, spring arm, and discrete electrical contact with a single material for stamping -- eliminating assembly.

Materion Solution:

Supply an electron beam welded strip with a thin gauge, high-performance alloy creating the reed portion of the relay with integral inlaid precious metal alloy to form contact points. This component is pre-welded to a less-expensive heavy copper alloy comprising the thicker terminal plate.
