Our Magnetically Enhanced (ME Grade™) targets optimize the Pass Through Flux (PTF) of ferromagnetic materials to substantially improve their sputtering performance. Ferromagnetic materials present challenges because their magnetic flux shunts the cathode’s magnetic flux, resulting in unstable plasmas & non-uniform film deposition. 

Materion's proprietary design and fabrication processes control the materials’ crystal orientation and grain size, enabling users to:

  • Minimize magnetic shunting
  • Stabilize the plasma
  • Improve film uniformity
  • Increase deposition rates and shorten cycle times
