Materion employee Jordan Cohen stars in IHOP commercial with his family
“It was one of those really beautiful moments that I'm thankful I had the opportunity to be part of”, shared Jordan Cohen, process engineer at our Buffalo, New York facility.
He was referring to the filming of a TV commercial now airing on national TV for the International House of Pancakes (IHOP). It all started when his mom Lori responded to a request from IHOP and shared the story of how her family could always go there for pancakes, relax and be themselves.
The company loved the story so much they also contacted Jordan, his sister Allie and brother Dylan to get their perspective. Convinced they had a great story to tell, they just needed to add a little dramatic flair. So they conspired with Jordan, Allie and Dylan to surprise their mother.
IHOP told Lori they wanted to film her for a web series they were producing from the stories they had gathered. So she agreed and arrived at an IHOP near her home in Irvine California.
While she had shared the news with her children, she didn’t expect to see them. Allie feigned car trouble in Arizona on her way back to California (she had been studying abroad in Ireland for the last 6 months) so she couldn’t get her back to watch the filming. Dylan was starting a new job at Quicken Loans in Arizona and Jordan, well he was all the way across the country in Buffalo.
Unbeknownst to her, IHOP had made arrangements for them to travel and be on location for the filming. So the surprise you see on Lori’s face is real – and she was thrilled to see her children.
If you don’t have a chance to see the commercial live, go to IHOP’s web site to view.
