Development of CU NI Alloy
Materion Microelectronics & Services has been in the forefront of Ni and Ni Alloy development for the vacuum electron device industry (VED’s) for the past 3 years. With the support of the Title 3 program sponsored by the DOD and the cooperation of the VED OEM’s, WAM has successfully developed a copper nickel alloy that meets the industry wide specification that took effect this year. With the completion of the program, Materion Microelectronics & Services is now the only qualified domestic source for Cu/Ni alloys.
The goal of the program was to provide an alloy that met the strict chemical & analytical requirements of the industry, was stringer/inclusion free, cost effective with short lead-times, and could be ordered in small batch sizes in a wide variety of sizes.
Proprietary Casting Process
Our proprietary casting process allows us to provide the industry with a cost effective value added solution. Other foreign suppliers can’t match the consistent quality, flexibility and value that Materion Microelectronics & Services offers to this industry. The photo below is an example of the superior quality, stringer free material that our process is capable of producing.
This copper nickel program has opened the door for development of ‘other’ high purity non-precious alloys. The unique skill sets at Materion Microelectronics & Services can help you design the alloy you need with value that surpasses any other specialty metals supplier.
