NEAR NET SHAPE (NNS) TECHNOLOGY REDUCES COST AND WASTE
Materion’s Near Net Shape (NNS) technology creates a more cost effective beryllium or aluminum beryllium powder metal part. Using shaped sheet metal cans for hot isostatic press (HIP) or shaped rubber bags for cold isostatic press (CIP) to consolidate material closer to the finished shape, NNS technology results in improved yield and reduced machine time.
SEAMLESS PROCESS YIELDS CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT WITHOUT DOWNSTREAM DISRUPTION
NNS parts are iterated to continually achieve cost reduction. Upfront engineering prevents these iterations from affecting what the customer receives, resulting in a seamless iterative process that includes:
- Materion works with customers to design optimized material blanks
- The HIP can or CIP bag is continually refined to consolidate closer to the material blank
- Each iteration reduces the manufacturing cost to produce the material blank
- Delivery schedule is not disrupted for iteration development
NEAR NET SHAPE TECHNOLOGY ADVANTAGES
Materion’s NNS Technology offers several advantages over our competition, including:
