RMAP Certification

The RMAP is a global initiative developed by the RMI to provide a credible system for companies to substantiate responsible sourcing. The RMAP uses an independent third-party assessment of smelter/refiner management systems and sourcing practices to validate conformance verifies that relevant materials are from conformant sources. Upon successful review by the organization’s Audit Review Committee (ARC), the applicant site is added to the RMI Conformant Smelter and Refiners List. Legislation Drives “Conformant” Status

Publicly traded companies such as Materion Corporation are required to comply with the Conflict Minerals Rule, 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform & Consumer Protection Act and EU Regulation 2017/871. The overall goal of these rules is to eliminate the human rights abuses and corruption occurring in conflict-affected and high-risk areas (CAHRAs) by discouraging the purchase and use of Conflict Minerals that directly or indirectly finance or benefit groups in CAHRAs.

Materion’s Responsible Minerals Sourcing Policy

Materion has had in place a Responsible Minerals Sourcing Policy that ensures that its products meet the due diligence and reporting requirements of the U.S. Securities and Exchange (SEC) rule under the Conflict Minerals Rule and other international rules and regulations. Using tantalum primarily derived from Materion’s own reclaim and recycling programs enables adherence under this policy as well as maintaining RMI Conformance status.

As a company with more than 100 years of experience in refining precious metals, Materion is committed to responsible stewardship practices that include the use of conformant minerals.
