For more than 50 years, Materion has manufactured CF flange beryllium window assemblies for high temperature applications. Our standard diffusion bonded windows can be baked to 450ºC and are measured with a helium mass spectrometer and are guaranteed leak tight to 1x10-9 atm-cm3/sec. For applications that require higher temperature endurance, we offer other joining techniques, including liquidus brazing and electron beam welding.
DIFFUSION BONDING PRODUCES BETTER ASSEMBLIES
We specialize in diffusion bonded windows. This joining offers several benefits over brazed beryllium windows available from other suppliers.
Our diffusion bonding is performed at temperatures well below the melting point of braze alloys, thus attaining high temperature performance without compromising beryllium strength. Typical high temperature liquidus brazing induces structurally weakened grain growth in the beryllium window. Strict control of bonding temperature and pressure also controls braze alloy flow—effectively eliminating high-absorption alloy contamination of the window’s effective aperture.
STANDARD CF FLANGE WINDOW ASSEMBLIES
Depending upon the application requirements, choosing a thicker foil can lower the cost and increase the amount of differential pressure the window can withstand. To assist with your decision, the table below lists the aperture size and the thinnest possible foil to withstand one atmosphere of differential pressure with a safety factor. After referring to the table, you can request a quote by specifying order number, beryllium foil grade and foil thickness.
Flange diameters range from 1.33 inch (34 mm) up to 16.5 inch (419.1 mm) with foil thicknesses as small as 0.002 inch (0.05 mm). Beryllium foil is available in IF-5TM , PF-60® and PS-200® grades.
