ELMORE FACILITY RECOGNIZED FOR IMPROVED OSHA SAFETY PERFORMANCE, TWICE!

Safety is always our top priority at Materion – no exceptions. It doesn’t matter who, where or when, a safe working environment with zero operational incidents is something we must all support and strive for each and every day. Our Elmore, Ohio team is definitely walking the talk.

THE FOCUS IS ON CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

The Elmore facility was recently presented with two separate awards for safety performance at a meeting of The Ottawa County Improvement Corporation Bureau of Workers Compensation. Accepting the two awards, Randy Drummond, Elmore Plant Manager, said “This is a great achievement by our entire Elmore team and we all proudly share this public recognition. Awards are certainly appreciated, but the fact is that we are always focused on continuous improvement in our safety record with one goal in mind: to be sure that every Materion employee goes home safe and sound at the end of every shift.”

TWO AWARDS FOR ALL EMPLOYEES

The first award, an achievement-based recognition, was presented as a result of a 25% reduction in incident rates from the previous year. The Elmore facility’s OSHA Recordable Incident Rate (ORIR) improved from 4.19 in 2016 to 2.82 in 2017, showing a 33% improvement year-over-year and marked the third lowest ORIR in the facility’s history.

The second award was a special award given to the Elmore facility celebrating at least 500,000 hours and six months without an injury resulting in a day or more away from work. All in, employees in the Elmore facility worked 1,255,086 hours from November 18th, 2016 to September 13th, 2017 between lost time injuries.
