Face-to-Face Around Materion
Meet Simon Osborne, Materion’s Channel Sales Manager for the Advanced Materials Group in Hungerford, UK. One of Simon’s key tasks is to bring onboard new “channel partners” (third-party sales representatives, buyers and re-sellers) in locations where Materion does not have a direct sales presence. His responsibilities include working closely with the Channel Partners to ensure they have the resources and training necessary to act on behalf of Materion and are fully compliant with our legal policies.
Simon reports to Kevin Banks, SNR Director International Sales.
In addition to broadening Materion’s presence in Europe, where he is directly responsible for Key Accounts in France and Israel, Simon will be looking to initiate partnerships in Asia and South America. As previous European Sales Manager at Materion, Simon is comfortable with extensive travel. He remarked” “I often think of traveling as a privilege that allows me to venture to different places and meet new people that I would not normally have the chance to do.”
As a Materion employee since 2006, Simon is enthusiastic about the company and its people. “Working closely with outstanding colleagues makes this job easier and more rewarding. I especially enjoy visiting the various Materion facilities which provide great training and materials that can be used to promote our company to Channel Partners.”
Simon comes to Materion with a background in manufacturing, including working with precious metal-based products, prior to his move into Sales. He was educated at Windsor College for Advanced Studies and went on to complete an Open University Course for Developing Effective Performance at Work. Simon is a lifelong resident of the Royal County of Berkshire, UK. When not on travel, he enjoys time at home relaxing with his family. Simon and his wife Eleanor, a Teaching Assistant, have two children Alexander and Isabelle. One of his hobbies is running, and he just competed in a half-marathon along with his daughter. Next on his agenda is an upcoming Edinburgh Half Marathon in May. He is also partial to canoeing on the nearby River Thames.
